Listener Support & Corporate Underwriting WEOS is a non-profit public radio station, providing 24 hour a day broadcast services to the Finger Lakes area of New York State. We are members of NPR, PRI, and Pacifica, and we have received the encouragement and the support of our listeners. Many of our listeners appreciate the diverse programming and the ability to receive a clear, public station in their area. Here's how you can support WEOS: If you're a listener, make a pledge of support to WEOS! If you've got a car you want to get rid of, donate it to WEOS! If you're a business, you can underwrite WEOS and get an on-air mention! If you listen in Ithaca, here's a special note... Are you a listener?  Make a pledge of support online today! WEOS is a public radio station, part of which means that we depend on support from our listening public.  Make your contribution today to help us bring you the finest news, information, entertainment and arts programming from National Public Radio, the BBC World Service, our own local programmers, and more! It's true that we do receive support from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, a private non-profit entity that does receive some federal funding, and in turn distributes it to stations like WEOS.  However, that amount usually only makes up about 25% of our annual budget.  That's it!  The rest has to be raised through listener donations, corporate underwriting, and some support from our license holder, Hobart and William Smith Colleges.   We know that listening to public radio is a two-way street: our listeners have made it clear that they don't like long, dreadful weeks of constant fundraising, so we don't do that.  But since it's a two-way street, we need YOU to make a pledge of support to help us keep broadcasting.  Please donate today - and thanks! A Special Note for our Listeners to 88.1FM in Ithaca: In addition to our main signal on 89.7FM, WEOS can also be heard in Ithaca on 88.1FM.  This is a lower power "repeater" transmitter known in FCC parlance as a "FM translator".  It's callsign is W201CD, Lansing/Ithaca and it mostly covers downtown Ithaca itself. WEOS does not own this translator nor does it receive any support from the group that owns it. However, WEOS does pay for the programming you hear on 88.1FM, including Democracy Now, Free Speech Radio News, NPR and PRI programs, and other programming.
